What is Coaching?
Coaching is a process in which I support you in staying focused while you make changes in your life.  During our session, you will set the agenda and I will provide the support needed.  I will work as a partner with you utilizing methodologies designed specifically for the ADHD client.  I will help you better understand your ADHD, and learn skills and strategies (time management, organization, socialization) and make personal discoveries (learning styles, gifts, intelligences, life goals, values, vision) which will enable you to see your ADHD challenges as manageable while enjoying a happy, balanced and fulfilled life. We will coach around any areas of struggle by defining your obstacles and designing custom strategies so you can finally succeed!

What is an ADHD Coach?
An ADHD coach is a professional with skills and training in Life Coaching and an advanced expertise in ADHD.

Benefits of Coaching
Through the supportive, and non-judgmental coaching environment and relationship, the client gains the insight and courage to employ and experience the skills and strengths they have always possessed. These new experiences provide the client with confidence and an ability to KNOW they are capable of creating what they want and what they believe is important in their lives.

How does coaching work?
Together, during the initial strategy session, we will clarify your current challenges and begin to design specific strategies that will work with your brain style, minimize your struggles and help you reach your goals. Following the initial strategy session, we will meet at scheduled intervals, either in person or by phone. During each 45-minute session, we will  have a conversation about where you continue to struggle and refine your strategies. Between our sessions you will continue to develop new habits, grow and change based on the “coaching field work” that you have agreed to do.

How is coaching on the phone effective?
It can be REALLY effective. Sometimes, the lack of visual actually enhances the coaching, both for the coach and the client.  As a Coach, you would be very surprised as to what you can “hear” in a person’s voice, which may be hidden by a physical presence. Phone coaching also eliminates the additional time and effort of traveling to an appointment.  Phone coaching allows you to partner with who fits best for you even if not located in your town!

I work in person and over the phone with clients. They are different experiences but both valid. I enjoy meeting one on one in person. On the other hand, sometimes clients are more able to focus when all they are doing is talking on the phone and taking notes.

How is coaching paid for?
At this time coaching is considered a personal investment and clients pay for their coaching without the assistance of insurance or other third party reimbursements. Coaching is not a licensed mental health profession at this time, and is generally not covered by insurance.

How often should I be coached and for how long?
This depends entirely on you and your individual challenges and goals.  I ask that my clients consider a three-month commitment in order to establish our relationship and for you to experience noticeable progress and change.  Behaviors are developed over a life-time.  Making lasting changes cannot happen in one session, but over a longer period of transition and growth. The longer we work together, the more results you will achieve! Best practices in coaching call for between two and four sessions per month that last 45 minutes. I’ve found most clients benefit most at three session per month for a minimum of 6 months.

How do I schedule a complimentary consultation?
The next step is to schedule a 20-30 minute complimentary consultation appointment with Carlene.  During this time you will be able to discuss one on one with Carlene what you are needing at this time, what challenges you or your family member are experiencing and together determine what might be your next best step. You can schedule a time that works best for you by clicking here.
