Jim Carrey is a funny man. He is living proof of what is possible for those living with ADHD. Fan or not, you have to appreciate his courage to live authentically…on his own terms, in his own genuine purpose. This guy actually does what he loves, and people love him for it! He figured out how to tap into his strengths. He shares those gifts with the world.
What if someone (I mean you) gave you permission to live your genuine purpose? No matter where you are in your life, it’s never too late.
In his graduation speech to students at Maharishi University Jim Carrey illuminates the places where we all get stuck….in the past or future, in our mind of distorted thoughts, in pleasing others, in fear, in choice.
Here are my favorite quotes from his speech.
“You can spend your whole life imagining ghosts, worrying about the pathway to the future but all there will ever be is what’s happening here in the decisions we make in this moment, which are based in either love or fear.”
“You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”
“How will you serve the world? What do they need that your talent can provide?”
“The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.”
“Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world. Risk being seen in all of your glory.”
“Painting is one of the ways I free myself from concern, a way to stop the world through total mental, spiritual and physical involvement.”
“Hope is a beggar. Hope walks through the fire and faith leaps over it.”
“You will only ever have two choices….love or fear. Choose love and don’t ever let fear turn you against your playful heart.”
What came up for you when you heard his speech?
